video tutorials: lighting the creative spark

michele's vintage found fabric sling bag:

getting creative with fabric?  for michele’s vintage found fabric sling bag, i’ve used material from a vintage seat cushion to give new life and new style to something old.  here’s everything you’ll need to start your own sling bag journey.
have you ever up-cycled fabric for your projects? what’s your favourite unconventional material or fabric to use for bags? let me know in the comments!
why vintage?
  • i love finding and reusing fabric from unexpected sources. not only does it add character and history to each piece, but it’s a great way to keep things sustainable.
  • this bag’s main fabric was once a beloved seat cushion and now it gets to go on brand new adventures.
what king of fabric could you use for your own sling bag?  try up-cycled or vintage fabrics (seat cushions, old curtains, discards bags, or pillowcases are all fair game).  go for something with some structure like canvas or denim to help it hold shape, or use interfacing to give it some of its own!
ready to dive in? c heck out the video for a step-by-step breakdown of what you’ll need and get inspired to give old fabrics a fresh purpose!
what’s your all-time favourite fabric find or up-cycling story?  share it in the comments! #sewing #bagmaking #DIY #foundfabric #slingbag #sustainable #materials #asmr #creolux
