alterations & customisation:
gender expression adjustments
sensory-friendly modifications
tailoring techniques
1. gender expression through clothing alterations:

your clothes should help you feel like yourself—whether that means accentuating features you love or playing down ones you don’t want to highlight. learn how to alter store-bought clothes or thrifted finds so they better reflect your gender identity and personal style:
• take in or let out seams to adjust fit.
• add darts or pleats for shaping.
• modify necklines or sleeves for a more masculine, feminine, or neutral look.
• transform oversized pieces into tailored garments.
2. sensory-friendly adjustments:

for those with sensory sensitivities, comfort is just as important as style. learn how to:
• move seams away from sensitive areas by resewing side seams or adding linings.
• replace scratchy tags with soft labels—or remove them entirely.
• recreate favorite garments in fabrics that feel better on your skin.
• adjust waistbands or cuffs for less pressure.
3. tailoring for custom fit:

off-the-rack clothing isn’t made for everyone’s body—but sewing can change that! learn how to:
• hem pants or skirts to the perfect length.
• adjust waistlines for comfort without sacrificing style.
• reshape shoulders or sleeves for a better fit.

how it works:

1. download & print:
all patterns are available as downloadable pdfs that you can print at home on standard paper or send to a print shop for larger formats (like A0).  instructions are included with each pattern to help you assemble the pieces.

2. skill levels:
each pattern includes a skill level—beginner, intermediate, or advanced—so you can choose projects that match your experience.

3. adaptable designs:
most of these patterns are designed to be flexible!  need to adjust for fit?  want to swap out a zipper for buttons?  feel free to modify any pattern to suit your needs.
resources include:
pattern instructions:
every pattern comes with step-by-step written instructions and diagrams to guide you through the process.

budget-friendly options:
we know not everyone has access to expensive materials or tools—that’s why many of our patterns include tips for repurposing items you already have at home!  here are some ideas:
• use old bedsheets or thrifted clothes as fabric.
• substitute interfacing with sturdy scraps like denim or canvas.
• swap out closures like zippers for buttons or ties.
